Grey scaring tissue where the BUMP was.....help! |
Lead | |
|
ok so ill try to be brief. i had my nose pierced for 4 years, no problems. 5 months ago i decided since id never worn a hoop that i wanted one. i went to a
shop, the piercer said since i was wearing cheap crappy jewerly(little fake diamond studs from Hot Topic) that my hole was supper small now and that he would
use the smallest gauged hoop but it was going to hurt. and it did, he had to manhandle my nose to get it in. 1 week later i get the infamous BUMP, i found this
site and followed the bump care instructions, sea salt soaks with a few drops of tea tree oil. it would help and the bump got smaller but it would never fully
go away. i stubbornly kept at it for 5 months, i finally went this sunday and got the ring taken out. i started noticing that the skin where the bump was was
this greyish dead skin looking color. it took two days for the bump to go away but now i still have this discoloration where it was. from afar it looks like i
have a nose piercing still, its that dark.
will it go away? has anyone heard of this happening? what should i do? heres a picture, though the flash makes it look lighter than it really is:

your piercer essentially stretched the piercing with the jewellery, which he shouldn't really have done and that's most likely what caused the issue.
i'm not really sure why you kept the ring in for 5 more months instead of switching back but what's done is done. it's unlikely that it's fully
closed so chances are, if you put a stud in you would still have a piercing.
if however you do want to just fully retire it, the scarring will go down over time but the degree it will disappear will vary. you can help it along by continuing soaks for a few weeks and massaging the area I'm Not Mean, I'm Just Not Nice.. |

thanks. i guess i kept it in cause i thought if i kept up with the soaks it would go away(huge mistake!). im really depressed that my face is scarred now.i
mean knew i would eventually take my nose ring out and have a little dent there, but to have dark gray scarring that is extremely noticable is something else.
i tried to cover it with makeup and it did not help,it just looked gross.
Do you think a product like Mederma would work on it? im going to start the soaks back up,should i continue tea tree oil as well? |

i wouldn't bother with tea tree oil. it's really just to help flush the lymph out. i'm not sure if mederma can be use on the face or if it would
make much of a difference. it's still a new scar so there's still plenty of time for it to fade. to be honest, it's not that obvious. it just seems
that way because you know it's there!

trust me it is very obvious, the flash from my camera is making it appear lighter than it is. im going to use mederma to see if it helps, ill come back and
post with any results just in case someone else has this problem too, if it doesnt help guess im off to a dermatologist.......

i imagine a dermatologist is likely to just tell you to wait for it to fade..

can you pierce over scar tissue? | ||
|
ok im on the verge of just getting my nose repierced and putting in a large enough stud that just covers up my ugly scarring! then ill just have to deal
with the scar when im old and no longer want a piercing!

you'll need to wait for it to heal before having it repierced but you could go back to the studio and see if it's possible for them just to taper the
existing hole back open.
patience is a virtue though and this is why piercings shouldn't be considered temporary!
