I want a inner lip tattoo but I have oral herpes. Not at the moment but it comes and goes when I am sick ir whenever my immune sys is down. Does this mean that I cannot get lip tattoo? How is the healing period in general? Does it hurt? What is the aftercare? How long does it take to fade completely? Thanks.

Making sure your immune system is bolstered by good habits and possibly a course of antibiotics beforehand can protect both you and the tattoo artist. The healing period for lip tattoos is quick; however they fade quickly and have to be retouched more than a "standard" tattoo. How fast that is depends on your body. It hurts just as much as having a needle repeatedly pierce the skin of your lip. Pain is subjective.
