so i gauged my ears from 8g to 6g a couple weeks ago, and i don't know what happend but somewhere, somehow i think it got infected because i took the
6g's out a little too early. i'm not sure if they were infected but there was puss and they got swollen...and so i took them out and i swabbed my ear
with alchohol swabs once everyday for i think it was 3 or 4 days and then i stuck the 6g's back in and 2 days later they started to form black crusty
bloody stuff and so i took them out and i'm almost positive that they're infected. so i washed and cleaned it out with soap and alchohol swabs and i
just want to know how long i'll have to wait untill i can start gauging again?

"Gauge" is not a verb, it's a noun. You stretched your ears, not gauged them.
Puss and swelling is not a sign of infection, it's a sign that you've done trauma to your body. If this is the case, then you need to downsize immediately and WAIT for the piercing to heal completely before attempting a stretch again. One size jump every other month is an appropriate pace; anything else will cause you to build scar tissue and make further stretches/downsizes more difficult. You're also not caring for your stretches properly. You might want to review proper aftercare techniques as set out by the Association of Professional PIercers. http://www.kenghis.com/09...03/app_aftercare_web.pdf Using alcohol is probably causing part of your problem. You don't mention what kind of jewelry and tapers you are using to stretch, but make sure they're an appropriate material and shape. Glass and metal are appropriate, plastic and acrylic are not. Spirals, claws, and talons are not appropriate stretching tools - a graded taper ensures the best gradual insertion of the jewelry. |

by downsizing i should just let it go back to a 6g? but while waiting for the next month it won't close up or go back down to like a 10 or 12 will it?

Yes, you need to let this go back to a 6g at least. Whether or not it goes further depends wholly on how much damage you've done and how much scar tissue
has formed. If it does go smaller than a 6g, you will have to start again, properly, stretching one size every other month with proper jewelry and proper
aftercare.
Stretching done properly does not cause trauma to a piercing. If you see signs of trauma, you're doing it incorrectly!
